Family Members Giving in Memory of Uncle Roger
Uncle Roger was a man who loved to eat, laugh, dance, and be with people, especially his siblings, nieces, and nephews. Whether it was joining his family and friends to root for the Lakers, watch James Bond movies, or dance the Cha-Cha – he was a fun, loyal, loving man with the biggest heart and cheerful disposition.
Earlier this year, he tragically passed away at Emanate Health because of COVID. In memory of Uncle Roger, his loved ones gave 12 heartfelt donations toward the COVID-19 Relief Fund. Along with their monetary contributions, they shared kind messages and words of gratitude for Uncle Roger's care at Emanate Health.
His niece Peggy Chan said, "We wanted to give back to the community, particularly to the health care workers who helped my uncle in the last days of his life. We hope that our donations may prevent other families from losing a loved one. We knew how painful it could be."
Uncle Roger's family members are particularly grateful for Emanate Health staff members such as nurse Donovan, Robin, and Giselle, who cared for him during his time at the hospital.
"We send our deepest condolences to the Chan family and are grateful for their kind and thoughtful donations to support our health care services. The height of the pandemic was devastating, but I continue to be inspired by our dedicated and resilient staff," said Laurie J. McCully, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Director of Emergency & Critical Care Services at Emanate Health Inter-Community Hospital.
Peggy Chan mentions, "I miss Uncle Roger every day and every moment, and the names of the staff members will be gratefully remembered by our family."
Family members and friends are welcome to honor a caregiver at Emanate Health who helped patients feel comfortable and loved in their time of need. For more information, please visit emanatehealth.org/caregiver.
