Bargain Box – Emanate Health’s community thrift shop
Emanate Health has its own thrift shop that offers quality clothing and small household items at bargain prices. Located in Covina, the Bargain Box is operated by the Emanate Health Inter-Community Hospital Auxiliary. Anyone can also donate gently used items to the Bargain Box during business hours.
During the pandemic, the Bargain Box has put forth all required guidelines for retail stores. “We do whatever it takes to make sure that our customers stay safe while shopping,” said Tiffany Ramirez, Corporate Director of Volunteer Services. “Everyone must use hand sanitizer when they enter, volunteers frequently wipe down door handles, counters and clothing racks, and we let donations sit for seven days before we go through them.”
The Bargain Box currently has seven dedicated volunteers to help with all aspects of store operations. Nadine Goeller, who has volunteered with Emanate Health for the last 14 years, said “I really love all the customers I have connected with and the relationships that I have made.”
Christina Mora, a long-time shopper at the Bargain Box, recently started volunteering. “I’m a thrifter myself and I enjoy seeing customers satisfied and happy with the bargains that they find!”
The Bargain Box is located at 216 E. Rowland Avenue, Covina, CA 91723 and the phone number is 626.332.4847.
Its temporary hours are Tuesdays-Fridays 10am-2pm. Donations of gently used items are welcome during business hours.
