Investing in Our Future Health Care Workers
In the spring of every year, the Auxiliaries of Emanate Health’s three hospitals (Inter-Community Hospital in Covina, Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina and Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora) each awards scholarships to students who are enrolled in a health-related program. Although each Auxiliary scholarship program is unique, they all express their commitment to advancing health care in our communities. “What makes me most proud is that our Auxiliaries are investing in our future health care workers,” said Tiffany Ramirez, Corporate Director of Volunteer Services.
The Emanate Health Inter-Community Hospital (ICH) Auxiliary (emanatehealth.org/ichauxiliary) awards scholarships to students who are enrolled in a program leading to or expanding a career where they will directly provide patient care or impact the well-being of those needing medical services.
One of the ICH Auxiliary scholarship recipients, Alayna Evans, said, “It is a blessing to receive an Auxiliary scholarship! It allows me to continue my nursing journey and implement my knowledge into future scientific endeavors to benefit my local community.”
Jody Mentzer, ICH Auxiliary Scholarship Committee Chair, said, “We hear so much negativity in the world today and not enough about the fine young people who have a good moral compass and work ethic – those who will shape the lives of future generations in positive and beneficial ways.”
The Emanate Health Queen of the Valley Hospital (QVH) Auxiliary (emanatehealth.org/qvhauxiliary) awards scholarships to QVH employees who are enrolled in a nursing or allied health program.
One of the QVH Auxiliary scholarship recipients, Ryane Torres, said, “I started at QVH as a volunteer and it is an honor to continue my journey as an employee as I go through nursing school. Receiving a scholarship is very special for me, and I look forward to continuing my journey knowing that this is where it all started."
Adeline Marquez, QVH Auxiliary Scholarship Committee Member, said, “I’m glad that the scholarships have the ability to help advance employees’ growth and knowledge, and to give back to the community.”
The Emanate Health Foothill Presbyterian Hospital (FPH) Auxiliary (emanatehealth.org/fphauxiliary) awards scholarships, some of which are privately endowed, to students pursuing and/or advancing a career in health care.
One of the FPH Auxiliary scholarship recipients, Sarah Eltiste, said, “Receiving a scholarship gives me the confidence to continue doing the best that I can do in school and my community. It also lifts a level of stress off of my shoulders financially. I am beyond grateful for receiving it.”
Pat Losie, FPH Auxiliary Scholarship Committee Chair, said, “The scholarship program encourages our younger generation to pursue their career path in the health care industry. It lets them know that this is an important field with no limitations in areas of interest and the Auxiliary is behind them 100%.”
Congratulations to all of the Auxiliary scholarship recipients! Information about the next round of scholarships will be available on the Auxiliary webpages in spring 2022.
