Spiritual care
Everyone's life is a journey, but rarely is that journey a straight and smooth path. In times of uncertainty, the Emanate Health Spiritual Care team is here to give you comfort and guidance.
How can spiritual care help your health?
While your doctors and nurses care for your health, spiritual care helps you with your spiritual concerns in the time of uncertainty. Stress and anxiety can have a debilitating effect during your hospital admission, and spiritual care can assist you in coping and dealing with the changes no matter your faith, personal or religious beliefs.
The spiritual care we provide is rooted in a deep respect for our patients' and their loved ones' personal beliefs, values and culture.
Our spiritual care team
We are a team of hospital chaplains and specially trained volunteers who help patients, loved ones and hospital staff deal with the strong emotions and anxieties that can sometimes occur in medical settings.
We come from a variety of interfaith backgrounds and our goal is to be a healing presence to everyone. The spiritual care team includes full-time chaplains, a Catholic priest chaplain, and a meditation practitioner who are all trained to be understanding and sensitive to issues relating to spiritual health. Spiritual care is available to everyone regardless of religious affiliation or personal beliefs.

Contact the spiritual care team
Bedside visits can be requested by asking your attending nurse to contact the spiritual care team.
You may also call any one of our extensions listed on this page at any time of day or night. We promise someone will be there for you.
Become a spiritual care volunteer
Our volunteers play an important role in providing hospitality and comfort to our patients and families. Reaching across faith-group boundaries without proselytizing, they show love and grace which can deeply encourage and support others as they experience spiritual distress related to their health.
To get started, please fill out our volunteer application and a background check consent form, and email them to ahaffner@emanatehealth.org.
Once you've completed your application process, you will also be required to attend an interview, pass a health screening conducted at no cost, and complete training with the spiritual care staff. During your training, you'll learn how to offer spiritual guidance that's in alignment with Emanate Health's values and will begin visiting patients.
