COVINA, Calif. – Emanate Health, the largest health care system located in the San Gabriel Valley, today announced its new class of physicians in the Family Medicine Residency Program. Over the next three years, these doctors will treat patients at Emanate Health hospitals and local community clinics to complete their formal medical education.
“We welcome a new class of residents who bring energy and enthusiasm to treating our patients on their pathway to becoming fully-trained and knowledgeable physicians,” said Dr. Maili Velez-Dalla Tor, M.D., FAAFP, Program Director of the Emanate Health Family Medicine Residency Program.
These eight resident physicians will make countless rounds and treat patients of all ages in the hospital and a variety of outpatient settings, and establish a continuity panel of patients to promote preventative care and wellness. They also must complete rotations in a variety of clinical areas including Cardiology, Surgery, Inpatient Medicine, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
“Shadowed by excellent physicians with impressive credentials, resident physicians will tap into their medical training to diagnose and treat patients of all ages and ethnicities who possess a variety of pre-existing conditions against the backdrop of a global pandemic,” said Dr. Velez-Dalla Tor. “The complexities of these clinical challenges will only help to make them better doctors.”
Resident physicians will spend much of their day seeing patients at Emanate Health Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, in addition to training at Emanate Health Inter-Community Hospital in Covina, and Emanate Health Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora. These physicians will also see patients at the Emanate Health Care Clinic, and our partner, East Valley Federally Qualified Health Centers.
